Action Pack

MY WATER SUPERHERO

Horizontal line

What if your child or group created a superhero who could help protect water? In this creative activity, kids will come up with a character, their mission to protect water, and their secret identity. Then, they'll make a superhero trading card to share!

 Project goal:

Create a water superhero with a mission to protect water and a secret identity.

Theme explored:

Careers for water

Target audience:

Kindergarten and primary school students, teachers, parents, camps, and youth groups

Pace:

Flexible and adaptable

Two children kneel by a small stream outdoors, exploring the water with a magnifying glass, alongside an illustrated water scientist character.

Discover careers that protect freshwater

Protecting freshwater is not only the work of scientists.

Careers in the water sector can be big or small, scientific, creative, technical, or community-oriented. For younger children, this kit turns the idea of water careers into a simple, imaginative activity: inventing a superhero who protects water and imagining what that superhero does in real life.

With this Action Pack and the help of an adult, kids choose a mission, tools, powers, and a secret identity. They then create a superhero card to keep, trade, or share with the Refresh Water! team.

How it works

This activity is designed to be accompanied. Students can draw, cut, glue, make up a story, and think about different roles related to water. The adult helps download the resources, guides the students through the steps, takes a photo or scans the project, and then uploads the file to the platform if the group wishes to complete the kit.

Summer activity

Horizontal line

This summer, in collaboration with the Carrefour de l’eau and the C.I.E.A.U., the Action Pack moves beyond the screen and connects to a real-world project: the Carrefour de l’eau technology showcase.

Located on the Port of Québec site, between the City of Québec wastewater treatment plant and Baie de Beauport beach, this project offers a concrete setting to discover how water can be recycled, studied, put to better use, and better understood.

The technology showcase is a modular space that can bring several parts of the Carrefour de l’eau to life. It offers a living glimpse of careers, technologies, and initiatives that contribute to the future of freshwater.

A version adapted for Grade 7 to 12 is also available.

The high school version offers a more advanced activity: choose a freshwater hero and create a presentation to highlight their impact.

A young person crouches beside a forest stream, touching the water while holding a hiking pole, with illustrated characters of a water scientist and engineer beside them.
