Discover careers that protect freshwater

Protecting freshwater is not only the work of scientists.
People in many fields help protect, manage, understand, recycle, innovate, or raise awareness about water every day. Some work in the field. Others develop technologies, support communities, design projects, analyze data, or share their knowledge.
With this Action Pack, learners discover that water careers are varied, practical, and accessible. They then choose someone they consider a freshwater hero and create a profile that brings their impact to light.

Summer activity
![]()
This summer, in collaboration with the Carrefour de l’eau and the C.I.E.A.U., the Action Pack moves beyond the screen and connects to a real-world project: the Carrefour de l’eau technology showcase.Located on the Port of Québec site, between the City of Québec wastewater treatment plant and Baie de Beauport beach, this project offers a concrete setting to discover how water can be recycled, studied, put to better use, and better understood. The technology showcase is a modular space that can bring several parts of the Carrefour de l’eau to life. It offers a living glimpse of careers, technologies, and initiatives that contribute to the future of freshwater. |

The technology showcase is a modular space that activates the different components of the Carrefour de l’eau:
- Recycle — A mobile wastewater recycling unit that can distribute recycled water to targeted industrial businesses.
- Demonstrate — A research space and test bench to test and validate innovative technologies with impact.
- Innovate — An incubator for businesses specializing in the water sector.
- Understand — An interpretation path to raise awareness among industrial stakeholders and the general public about water-related issues.
Why is this connected to the Action Pack?
This activation brings the careers for water theme to life.
Learners can discover concrete examples of careers, technologies, and projects connected to freshwater, then continue the experience with the Action Pack by creating their own profile of a freshwater hero.
About the site
The summer activation site is located in a strategic setting, between water management infrastructure and a busy public space. This location creates a concrete connection between water treatment, reuse, innovation, and awareness.
